Solution 1: End Processes that are related to QuickBooks

  • Initially, close all the QuickBooks processes in the Task Manager. For that, press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys together. This short key will help the user in accessing the Task Manager.
  • Following that, advance to the Processes tab and then end all processes related to QuickBooks.
  • Finally, reopen QuickBooks and try opening the company file again.
 

Solution 2: Move the Company File to the Desktop

  • The first step requires heading to the folder where the company file is located.
  • Upon accessing the folder, right-click on the company file(s) that is provoking Error 6143.
