Avana 100 mg commonly contains avanafil, a PDE5 inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). Avanafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, but it can also cause a temporary drop in blood pressure.

Monitoring blood pressure can be particularly important if you already have low blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, or take antihypertensive medicines. Combining avanafil with certain blood-pressure-lowering drugs may increase the likelihood of dizziness, light-headedness, weakness, or fainting.

The most important interaction is with nitrate medicines, such as nitroglycerin or isosorbide. Avana 100 mg must not be combined with nitrates because the resulting fall in blood pressure can be severe and potentially life-threatening. It should also be avoided with guanylate cyclase stimulators such as riociguat.

Excessive alcohol may further lower blood pressure and increase dizziness or fainting. Avanafil should also not be combined with other ED medicines unless specifically prescribed.

Seek urgent medical attention if you experience fainting, severe dizziness, chest pain, difficulty breathing, sudden vision or hearing changes, or an erection lasting more than four hours.
