U4GM Tips for MLB The Show 26: Where to Earn Program Points

A lineup built to collect routine mission progress can become awkward in competitive play when its required cards displace players you trust. That tension matters more than browsing MLB 26 stubs before checking your inventory: the Topps Update programs reward efficient roster planning, not simply assembling the highest ratings. The real challenge is earning useful cards without letting temporary objectives dictate every game you play.

The Shared Mission Changes Your Priorities

Autumn Ascensions, Black Gold, and Heavy Lumber each offer four 99 OVR cards, with the final player reward at 40 points. Across all three, that creates a route to 12 cards. However, collecting every available mission completion is unnecessary if your objective is reaching those reward thresholds.

The strongest starting point is Bobby Witt Jr. Each program awards 10 points for earning 500 Parallel XP with any version of his player item. Completing that shared requirement advances all three programs simultaneously, covering one quarter of each reward track through a single objective.

For an early roster, this makes an existing Witt card particularly valuable. A stronger replacement might improve your lineup, but it is not required for this mission. Check what you own before spending resources to solve a problem your collection already addresses.

Choose Missions Around Your Collection

Your next decision should follow inventory depth rather than the order programs appear. Autumn Ascensions features 500 PXP missions for Trey Yesavage, JJ Wetherholt, Konnor Griffin, and Julio Rodríguez. Black Gold uses the same individual requirement for Kevin McGonigle, Chase Burns, Samuel Basallo, and Paul Skenes.

Heavy Lumber takes a different shape. Bryce Eldridge and Sal Stewart each have a 500 PXP objective, alongside requirements for 1,000 PXP with shortstops and/or Pirates players and 1,000 PXP with right fielders and/or Padres players. Those broader categories deserve attention when your collection lacks specific names.

The sensible progression sequence is straightforward, but the roster audit comes first.

Identify existing versions of required players before committing resources to additional cards.
Complete the shared Witt objective while keeping other eligible mission players active.
Finish the three remaining objectives in each program that best match your available roster.

After Witt supplies 10 points, three further 10-point completions reach 40. That leaves room to skip an inconvenient objective rather than rebuilding your team around it. Mid-game collections benefit most from this flexibility because several workable routes may already be available.

Separate Farming From Competitive Preparation

For batting objectives, lineup placement is a practical efficiency tool. Reliable contact hitters near the top can receive more plate appearances, while power hitters behind them can convert runners into runs. Do not automatically promote a required player if you struggle to produce with that card; participation alone is not a complete farming plan.

Pitching objectives require a similar judgment. Use an eligible pitcher whose delivery and command feel manageable with your preferred interface. A theoretically convenient mission becomes less attractive when you cannot sustain productive outings.

For PvE, favor eligible settings where you can manage those opportunities consistently. For PvP, protect the structure of your competitive roster instead of forcing several unfamiliar mission cards into important roles. These are different priorities, not evidence that one approach always produces faster progress.

Stop Spending Effort Past Your Goal

Check mission counters after every game, particularly for Heavy Lumber's positional and team requirements. Confirm that your selected items meet the stated criteria rather than assuming a productive performance must count. Late-game planning should become more selective: pursue remaining rewards that justify the roster disruption, not unfinished counters for their own sake.

The best long-term value comes from preserving resources while turning existing cards into completed programs. Even if you are considering cheap MLB 26 stubs, first identify a specific roster need that your collection cannot cover. Finish the shared objective, choose manageable routes, and return to your preferred lineup once each reward target is reached.
